The Quakers outlasted Brownsburg on their home track Tuesday to win the county title with 156.5 points to Brownsburg's 147.

"We only won four events, but we scored in every single event and I think we double scored in 14 of them," Plainfield coach Jason Schoeff said. "We knew we might not have the six, seven, or eight individual wins, but as a team we thought we could do alot of great things."

Battling a shoulder injury Morgan Ford helped push the Quakers to victory with a win in the shot put (39-05) and a second-place finish in the discus (123-6.5).

"It means alot considering how hard we all worked to get to where we are now," Ford said. "Even if we got second we would've been happy with how we competed because we all fought really hard."

The Quakers also got victories from Kristin Mercer (100 hurdles, 16.29), Kasey Johnson (59.07), and the 4x100 relay team of Courtney Erlenbaugh, Cora Bruner, Mercer, and Mackenzie Motter (52.31).

The Bulldogs almost pulled off their fourth straight county victory thanks to getting plenty of points in the distance events.

Maddie Webster won the 1600 (5:18.32) and 3200 (11:25.7); Veronica Goduto took the 800 (2:23.74); and the Bulldogs' team of Haley Wittig, Mary Lewis, Sydney Lesko, and Kyra Jo Gaerke won the 4x800 relay (10:08.18).

In all, the Bulldogs won a meet-high seven events. Other winners for Brownsburg were Kirsten Gaerke in the 200 (26.54); Kerry Devney in the 300 hurdles (50.08); and the 4x400 relay team of Haley Johnson, Goduto, Lewis, and Kirsten Gaerke (4:09.20).

Avon placed third with 133.5 points. After failing to get in the win column in last year's county meet, the Orioles took three events Tuesday.

Carlynn Carter won the discus (133-8.5); Haley Austin placed first in the high jump (5-1); and Caselyn Harding took the pole vault (10 feet).

Cascade finished fourth in the meet with 78 points. Shelby Reynolds won the long jump for the Cadets (16-6) and also finished in first place in the 100 (12.78).

Tri-West finished fifth with 56 points. Carissa Rose had the Bruins' highest finish of the meet, placing second in the 100 hurdles (16.4) and the 300 hurdles (50.96).

Danville placed sixth with 36 points. Lauren Callahan finished second in the 800 (2:26.14) to lead the Warriors.
