It was a clean sweep for the Batesville High School cross country teams at the annual Ripley County meet held last week at Jac-Cen-Del High School.
The Lady Bulldogs placed first with six runners placing in the top 10 and earning all-county honors.
Batesville’s Steacy Gryspeerdt crossed the finish line in first place to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Gryspeerdt won the race in a time of 20:57.
Ashlee Maupin and Alexandra Lake filled in the next two places to give Batesville a 1-2-3 finish. Maupin finished in a time of 21:02, while Lake was close behind with a mark of 21:32.
Laurel Washburn (fifth), Brittany Brewer (seventh) and Hannah Shane (ninth) also turned in fine races to finish in the top 10.
The boys team dominated the field and placed all seven runners in the top 10 for all-county honors.
Jonathan Krekeler was the overall champion with a time of 17:18 followed closely by Hayden Merkel in second with a mark of 17:23.
Chris Giesting (17:42) and Blake Coleman (17:47) placed fourth and fifth place respectively. Collin Koury (sixth), Jarrod Lowery (seventh) and Cody Cavinee (10th) rounded out the top finishers for the Bulldogs.
