FAIRFIELD’S COURTNEY HERSCHBERGER NAMED MENTAL ATTITUDE AWARD WINNER

Courtney Herschberger of Fairfield High School was named the winner of the Mental Attitude Award in Class 2A following the state championship match by members of the IHSAA Executive Committee.

The award is presented annually to a senior participant in the state finals who was nominated by her principal and coach and has demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability.

Herschberger maintains the fourth best GPA in her class with a 3.962 on a 4.0 scale. She has been elected class president in her sophomore, junior and senior years and and Vice President of the Student Council this year. She’s also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Sunshine Society and serves as student leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Athletically, she also plays basketball and softball for the Falcons. Outside of school, she is involved in church activities and 4-H.

She is undecided on a college at this time but is interested in studying physical therapy.

She is the daughter of Kirby and Carla Herschberger of Goshen.

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, the IHSAA’s corporate partner, presented a $1,000 scholarship to Fairfield High School in the name of Herschberger.
