Lady Bulldogs win fifth of season
The fifth win of the season did not come easy, but it was a win,
The Lady Bulldogs knocked off Seymour by a score of 2-1.
Both goals were scored by Kate Macyauski. The first goal came with 20 minutes remaining in the first half assisted by Riley Gratz. The game-winner came with about 20 minutes to go in the second half assisted by Olivia Blanken.
Seymour got their first goal less than 10 minutes into the game. They had another opportunity in the last minute of the first half when they were given a penalty kick. Billeigh Hankins saved the penalty kick and the rebound that followed to keep the 1-1 tie at half.
“I felt that our defense played well all things considered ... our defense is made up of Traci Laker, Molly White, Haley Kopp, and Olivia Blanken,” head coach Derek Jones commented. “Allison Meer, and Lauren Karbowski also played a huge role for us yesterday.
“These girls were under constant pressure for a large part of the second half and were able to keep them from scoring,” he added.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the season.
Lady Bulldogs
over SD 6-2
The Lady Bulldogs continued their fantastic start to the season by defeating the South Dearborn Lady Knights 6-2.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead when Macyauski scored with 26:40 to go in the first half.
A few minutes, later Katie Thomas increased the lead to 2-0 with a goal at the 22:53 mark.
Gratz then busted the game open with three goals in less then two minutes.
South Dearborn added a goal near the end of the first half to make it 5-1 at the break.
Gratz answered an early second half goal by the Lady Knights. She tallied her fourth goal of the game at the 24:53 mark. Thomas added two assists and Macyauski one to add to the offensive attack.
“Riley Gratz obviously had a heck of a game,” Jones commented. “I thought all the girls played really well.
“I was very happy with how our defense played, I think this was our first test of the season and I was happy with how the girls responded. It is nice to see the girls playing this well early in the season, hopefully things will get better from here.”
