Despite some seriously inflated scores by its five top golfers, Greensburg still managed to pull out a 182-253 victory against East Central Monday afternoon at Greensburg Country Club.
“Every year when we have our first dual meet, we don’t do well. After we start back to school with all of its distractions, we don’t do well,” said Coach Phyllis Hamilton after the match was over. “It’s a whole different environment. If I go back over the years, I think I’ll find that our worst score of the year is in that first dual meet.”
Megan Gindling won medalist honors with a four-over par 39 easily outdistancing her teammates. Brianna Scheidler shot 44 for second followed by Kasey Kilgore, 49; Kyra Domingo 50; Hillary Miller 53 and Ali Giddings 59.
To put the match in perspective, Kris Maurer, playing with Gindling and Scheidler, shot 57 to pace the Lady Trojans. She was followed by Carol Morris, 62; Kelsey Buckman 66; Morgan McGoth 67; Beth Moorman 68 and Mandy Abplanalp, 70.
The Pirates return to action on Thursday when they travel to Connersville.
