Defending State Champion Martinsville and runner-up Hamilton Southeastern have begun the 2008 Indiana high school girls golf season as the top ranked teams.
Martinsville, who won their 10th Girls Golf Team State Championship last season, are number one in the August 18 preseason poll released by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Assocation and the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association.
Hamilton Southeastern, who finished in second place, 19 strokes behind Martinsville, is second in the poll while Avon is third. Columbus North, who finished third at last year's state meet, begins the season fourth, ahead of Richmond.
