Week 5 football wrapup

It was another interesting week of Indiana high school football.  Check out some of the notable happenings from around the state.

Beech Grove 41, Crawfordsville 28
The Hornets put up big numbers in a win against a 3-1 Crawfordsville team. 

Ben Davis 26, Terre Haute North 17
The Giants, a week after a 21-point loss to rival Warren Central, get their 2nd MIC win.

Carmel 27, Lawrence North 6
The #1 Greyhounds continue a perfect season with the conference win.

Chesterton 12, Valparaiso 10
The Trojans hand Valpo their first loss of the season, meaning each squad is 4-1.

Cloverdale 32, Cascade 20
Not notable to mainstream fans, but notable for the fact that Cascade scored their first points of the season in this loss.

Columbus East 42, New Albany 14
The 4A #1 Olympians are still unbeaten – and are now the only team unbeaten in Hoosier Hills Conference play.

Concord 35, Goshen 14
The Minutemen are 5-0 with an offense putting up 47 points per game.

Crown Point 21, Portage 6
The Bulldogs pull in just their second win, while giving Portage their first loss.

Delta 27, Yorktown 21
A battle of unbeatens goes to Delta in the Hoosier Heritage Conference contest.

Evansville Reitz 42, Castle 28
The 4A Panthers take down 5A Castle in their first loss of the season.

Fairfield 63, Eastside 16
63 points for the second straight week for the Falcons and the third time they’ve surpassed 60 points this season.

Fort Wayne North 21, Fort Wayne Luers 19
Luers had not allowed any points through three weeks, then suffers their first loss in week five.

Fort Wayne Snider 31, Harding 6
Harding gets shut down by a Fort Wayne power for the second straight week, this time undefeated Snider.

Hamilton Southeastern 41, Lafayette Jeff 31
A battle of unbeatens turns out in the favor of HSE… for the fourth straight time in their regular season meetings.

Heritage Christian 52, Indianapolis Lutheran 15
These 5-0 Eagles are soaring.

Hobart 29, Andrean 3
The 5-0 Brickies are playing well going into a meeting with 5-0 Lowell.

Indianapolis Cathedral 37, Indianapolis Arlington 21
A game between schools who are almost literally around the street corner from each other goes the way of the state’s all-time winningest program.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard 22, Anderson Highland 7
The 3A #1 Trojans roll along.

Kokomo 22, Huntington North 14
The WildKats spring to 4-1 and are 3-0 in the North Central Conference with a one game lead.

Lawrence Central 34, Columbus North 17
A year ago I would have laughed for days at this… LC is no longer a joke.

Muncie South 63, Jay County 54
What a final score!

North Montgomery 20, Lebanon 14 – OT
The Chargers are 5-0.

North Posey 28, Heritage Hills 24
The Patriot lose back to back regular season games… has this ever happened? Seriously?

Penn 34, South Bend St. Joe’s 20
The Indians are unbeaten no more.

Perry Central 42, Tell City 0
The Commodores are mowing through their competition.

Pike 41, Bloomington North 21
The Red Devils stop the two-game losing streak.

Sheridan 34, Benton Central 13
The 1A #1 Blackhawks have won 41 straight… yawn.

Southport 48, Bloomington South 21
The Cards are hot as can be… winners of 4 straight.

Warren Central 42, North Central (Indianapolis) 7
The 5-0 Warriors haven’t scored fewer than 39 points in a game this season.

West Lafayette 35, Tipton 14
There's the answer to your question… The Red Devils win in a battle of Red Devils vs. Blue Devils.  In the battle of unbeatens, West Lafayette wins at home.

Whiteland 40, Danville 7
The Warriors are 5-0.
