Early Season Thoughts

Hello XC fans,
Well it seems as if the 2008 season is already passing by way too quickly. There have been several "big" meets and numerous early season surprises. One of the early leaders on both the boys and girls side are the Greyhounds of Carmel. As their coach, I can assure you that they have worked very, very hard since the end of last season. I could not be prouder of a group of young people as a am of these tremendous student/athletes.
We have enjoyed participating in great meets in and around the state of Indiana. Both groups remain undefeated after competing in the "Hot Summer Bash" in Ohio, as well as, local meets, such as, the Brebeuf Invitational, Western Invitational, Columbus Kick-Off, Hamilton County Meet, and the State Preview Meet. Our kids have learned that, "hard work pays off". They have been busy all summer (as well as last winter) preparing for this fall season. As they say, "you only get out of something, what you put into it".
We currently are looking forward to hosting our own invitational at Greyhound Park, our campus course. I admire all those teams who have chosen to take part in such a tough meet, with such great competition and such a difficult course....good times are very hard to come by. It will be an awesome event. There will be many great races, a lot of trophies to give away and food for everyone.
I know that everyone out there who is running for their local high school teams has been working hard. Keep it up. It will pay off. I hope that our paths will cross sometime during the season. Good luck to you and your team as the season continues.
