Lady Bulldogs blank Shelbyville

A cool and windy afternoon greeted the Batesville Lady Bulldog tennis team when they arrived at Shelbyville High School Tuesday night. The Lady Bulldogs picked up their seventh win of the season by knocking off the host Golden Bears 5-0. The No. 2 doubles team of Meredith Heckman and Riley Gratz set the tone for the Lady Bulldogs with a 6-3 and 6-0 win over Emily Limpus and Monica Cooper.
 
The No. 1 doubles team of Emily Helvie and Jordan Lowery were not far behind with a 6-1 and 6-1 win over Meghan Thornburg and Ashley Bush. The singles matches fell into place not long after the doubles. Molly White and Katie Zimmerle were straight set winners at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively. White defeated Alexis Ayres 6-4 and 6-2, while Zimmerle was a 6-1 and 6-1 winner over Emily Blain. Freshman Ellen Heppner split sets with Shelbyville sophomore Jordan Wise before winning a super tie-breaker 10-7 for the third set. Heppner lost the first set 7-6 before winning the second 6-4. The Batesville junior varsity suffered a 3-2 loss. Missy Wilson and Ali Meyer were victorious at No. 1 doubles as was Lawson Gutzwiller at No. 2 singles.
