The Cathedral High School girls tennis team is ranked No. 4 in the state and coming off a victory over No. 3 Munster on Friday . . . but it's not enough.

"The girls want more," coach Mark Noe said.

The Irish's only loss is to No. 1 Park Tudor 3-2.

Cathedral plays at No. 12 Zionsville at 4:30 p.m. today then begins the City Tournament on Friday. The City championship is 4:30 p.m. Monday at the IUPUI Sport Complex. Sectionals start May 21.

"We're on schedule," said Noe, noting that a match with No. 2 Carmel was canceled after it was postponed twice and a makeup date couldn't be worked out. "We'll make some tweaks here and there, but I'm very pleased. We think we can win it all, but we'll take the sectional first, then regionals and so on and so forth."

Paola Usina, last year's No. 1 player, is currently at No. 3 as Madison Rothberger, No. 2 last season, has taken over the top spot and Kate Winningham, who played as a sophomore but sat out last season, has traded off with Usina for the second position.

Cassia Wojtalik and Carlene Eckhart form the No. 1 doubles team, with Megan Adams and Elizabeth Whitsett at No. 2.
