Lady Viking swimmers 6th at sectional

The Huntington North girls’ swimming team finished sixth out of 12 teams at Saturday’s sectional at Warsaw.

The Lady Vikes finished with 20. The host Lady Tigers won the sectional title with 279.

Plymouth (244), Columbia City (172), Culver Academies (160) and Logansport (154) rounded out the top five.

Cassie Hacker had the top finish for the Lady Vikes on the day.

She placed second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.13.

The winners of each event advance to the state meet February 13 in Indianapolis.

Hacker may make the state meet if her time is better than the state time standard in the 100 breaststroke.

Jenna Bosselman of Columbia City won the event in 1:14.77.

Hacker also finished fourth in the 100 free in :59.05.Plymouth’s Kenzie Miller won the 100 free in :52.79.

Mariah Patrick finished fourth in the 50 free in :27.49. Audrey Petro of Warsaw won the event in :25.51.

Patrick placed fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.77. Miller, of Plymouth, also won the 100 backstroke, in :57.21.

Sara Karst was fourth in the 500 free in 5:55.52.

Michelle Tanke-Jusina won the 500 free in 5:32.77.

Karst finished fifth in the 200 free in 2:09.38.

Peyton Zehner of Logansport won the 200 free in 2:02.86.

Patrick, Hacker, Karst and Kaitlyn Batt finished sixth in the 200 medley relay in 2:05.65.

Plymouth captured teh 200 medley relay in 1:58.33.

Patrick, Hacker, Karst and Batt teamed up again to finish fourth in the 200 free relay in 1:50.65.

Warsaw won the 200 free in 1:44.74.

Emily Koons, Taylor Feller, Marissa Murray and Batt placed seventh in the 400 free relay with a time of 4:24.05.

The 400 free relay title went to Plymouth in a time of 3:51.52.

The Huntington North boys’ swimming team begins sectional round competition on February 19.
