Lady Pirates 8th at Swim Sectional

Greensburg traveled to Columbus North last Thursday and Friday for girls sectional competition and swam to an eighth place finish.

The highlight of the competition was the fourth place finish in the 200-yard free style relay by the team of Annie Oesterling, Elizabeth Stewart, Ellen Weigel and Sabrina Smiley.

Other girls providing points were eighth place finishes by the medley relay team of Molly Wenning, Oesterling, Smiley and Weigel and by Oesterling in the 100 breast stroke. Placing ninth was the 400 free style relay of Josia Dixon, Wenning, Allyse Roberts and Elizabeth Stewart. Smiley also swam to 11th place finishes in the 50 free style and 100 breaststroke and Weigel finished 12th in the 500 free style.

Columbus North continues to dominate the sectional placing first with 329 points defeating Bloomington South by 16.5 points. The scores dropped off significantly after Bloomington South to Bloomington North and East Central with 181 and 125 points, respectively. Edgewood took fifth with 109, Oldenburg Academy 92.5, South Dearborn 68, Greensburg 50, Milan 40, Batesville 26, Columbus East 24 and Lawrenceburg 12.
