East Central sweep conference swim titles

The East Central High School swim teams made a clean sweep of the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet.


The Trojans were easy winners in the boys meet with a score of 157 points, which was 101 better than the second placing Batesville Bulldogs.

The Trojans were winners in all three relay events and won eight of the nine individual events.

Connor Lyle (200 and 500 yard freestyle), Jake Burns (200 individual medley and 100 yard backstroke), Tyler Bauman (diving), Daniel Lyle (100 yard butterfly and 100 yard breaststroke) and Tim Dickhaus (100 yard freestyle) were all conference champions for the Trojans.

Adam Stewart of Greensburg won the 50 yard freestyle and was the only other winner.

The Bulldogs turned in a number of outstanding finishes to place runner-up for a second year in a row, according to coach TJ Greene.

Richie Gryspeerdt set a new BHS record in the 100 yard breaststroke. Gryspeerdt finished in a time of 1:07.09, which placed him third in the event.

Tyler Guidry was also a third place finisher for the Bulldogs. The BHS senior finished the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.37.

Fourth place finishers for the Bulldogs were Guidry (100 yard butterfly), Scott Gryspeerdt (200 yard individual medley), Hunter Jordan (50 yard freestyle) and Nick Limardo (500 yard freestyle).

The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Scott Gryspeerdt, Richie Gryspeerdt, Guidry and Limardo place second with a time of 3:54.14.

The medley relay team of Guidry, Jordan and the two Gryspeerdts recorded the second fastest time (1:52.71) in school history to place third in the meet.

The Lady Trojans captured the team title in the girls portion with a score of 139 points followed by South Dearborn with 63.

Conference champions for the Lady Trojans were Grace Ryan (200 yard individual medley), Kelsey Kennedy (100 yard freestyle), Autumn Menkedick (500 yard freestyle) and Kari Andres (diving). The Lady Trojans were also winners in the 200 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs were led by Emily Kelley with a fourth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (28.12) and a fifth in the 100 yard freestyle (1:04.40).

Meredith Heckman (100 yard backstroke, 1:13.13) and Erin Hankel (100 yard breaststroke, 1:21.11) were also fourth place finishers
