The accolades continue for Washington's Skylar Diggins, who was named the MaxPreps Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Diggins also was selected the MVP of the McDonald's All-American game and the WBCA All-American game this month. She was Gatorade's National Player of the Year and Naismith National Player of the Year.
Other first-team selections include 6-foot-8 Grittney Griner, Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis of Mater Dei in Santa Ana, and Tayler Hill of Minneapolis.
Benton Harbor's Destiny Williams was named third team All-American by MaxPreps, averaging 28 points per game, as was Heritage Christian's Kelly Faris.
Ben Davis' Alex Bentley was named Honorable Mention, while her coach Stan Benge was named National Coach of the Year by MaxPreps.
Second Team: Kelsey Bone (Dulles HS, Sugarland, Texas), Joslyn Tinkle (Big Sky HS, Missoula, Mont.), Markel Walker (Schenley HS, Pittsburgh), Chelsea Gray (St. Mary's HS, Stockton, Calif.), Layshia Clarendon (Cajon HS, San Bernardino, Calif.).
Third Team:Stephanie Holzer (Cardinal O'Hara HS, Springfield, Pa.A), Destiny Williams (Benton Harbor), Chiney Ogwumike (Cy-Fair, Cypress, Texas), Taber Spani (Metro Academy HS Olathe, Kan.), Kelly Faris (Heritage Christian HS, Indianapolis).
Honorable Mention: Alex Bentley (Ben Davis HS, Indianapolis),
