The Journal Review
Southmont senior Andreas Winn-Turner will be the veteran of a group of four local swimmers and divers heading into the state finals tonight and Saturday at the Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis Natatorium.
Winn-Turner will compete in his third straight state finals. For Southmont junior Ian Line, North Montgomery senior Eric Spencer, and Crawfordsville senior Brett Linn, it will be their first state experience.
Winn-Turner, Line and Spencer all will compete in the swimming prelims 6 p.m. today at the Natatorium. The top eight swimmers from tonight’s prelims advance to Saturday’s finals, while the next eight will swim in Saturday’s consolation races.
Linn will dive at the state meet Saturday. Diving begins at 9 a.m. with all 32 divers doing five dives. The bottom 12 divers are then cut, and the remaining 20 do three more dives. Four more divers are then cut, and the top 16 divers advance to Saturday afternoon’s finals.
